Choosing the right partner for you club management software is vital. After all, making the wrong choice can cost a lot of time and money.

Here, Mike Alpert, the CEO of The Claremont Club, explains why ABC Financial was the right club management software partner.

CS: How were you introduced to ABC Financial, and why did you decide to partner with them? 

MA: I was first introduced to ABC Financial through the REX Roundtable that I am a member of. I had the opportunity to sit through several presentations that they did over a period of a couple of years. During this time I was able to get to know Steve Ayers, their Chief Revenue Officer, and was so impressed with his approach to business and to people. Steve is truly focused on the customer and whether ABC is the right fit for them. He does the right thing all the time. It became crystal clear to me that he was willing to walk away from business if his product would not improve the prospect’s overall operation.

I also had know Clay Whittiker, their director of national accounts on the West Coast since 1990, when I was one of the managing partners of The Athletic Club of Bend, in Bend, Oregon, and Clay was with Cybex. Knowing Clay for all these years I knew that I would get honest and accurate advice from him, which was very helpful in making the decision to switch to ABC.

CS: What are the benefits to your business as a result of this partnership? 

MA: The billing and collection process and the transition to EFT has been a major benefit. The onsite training that we received prior to, during and after the conversion were above and beyond all expectations. And their Report Writer is excellent.

CS: What are the benefits to your members as a result of this partnership? 

MA: The EFT option for services like Personal Training. Members like that they can pay as they go rather than have to purchase a package and pay for it prior to using the sessions. Although we have not rolled out online services to the extent that the system is capable of, our members do like the fact that they can view their accounts online.

CS: Have you been pleasantly surprised by working with ABC Financial in any way? 

MA: I have been through 5 software conversions during my 25 years in the fitness industry and the ABC conversion was far and above the best one ever. Literally everyone of their staff that spent several weeks at the Club were simply outstanding. In addition, my CFO & I had the opportunity of visiting their headquarters in Arkansas prior to making our final decision to use there software. Our staff are very happy with the system and always tell me of the great customer service they are afforded and how quickly they respond to any questions or problems they have.

CS: What else can you tell other club owners about the benefits of working with ABC Financial? 

MA: I think they are one of the finest software companies I have ever worked with. If you want great service before and after you purchase the product and if you want to work with honest and wonderful people, you should consider ABC Financial.
