As a health club owner or operator, your daily schedule is extremely busy. Therefore when it comes to buying fitness accessories and equipment, the last thing you want to do is search around on various websites, piece-mailing together what you need for your gym. With this in mind, Paul Hunter, the owner of Grayton Beach Fitness, does a lot of his shopping through Power Systems. Here, he shares why it’s his go-to, one-stop-shop for fitness accessories and equipment.
CS: From an ownership perspective, why did you want to offer Power Systems’ products within your facility?
PH: Power Systems is a one-stop-shop with every accessory and tool I need for Grayton Beach Fitness. Their customer service team has always been extremely helpful whenever I have had questions. Items we’ve purchased include: slam balls, medicine balls, mats, various cable attachments and much more.
CS: How would you rate the quality of Power Systems’ products? Is Power Systems easy to work with from a customer service perspective?
PH: The quality of products Power Systems offers has been great and I have truly appreciated them stepping up to innovate an even higher quality, more durable product when the need of the industry has demanded it.
CS: Why is offering functional training products like plyo boxes and kettlebells important? Do you think having these products available for members is important?
PH: Our role is to provide what the member is looking for and to educate them on what is best for them. As a facility that is located in a destination resort area, my clientele is approximately 80 percent local and 20 percent visitors — we have the benefit of seeing what the visitors look for when they enter our facility and thus the trends outside our area. In almost every situation, we have had more than they were expecting and looking for in terms of functional training equipment. Having these items available has allowed Grayton Beach Fitness to be a leader in our area in training and results.
CS: Are there any trends in functional training equipment you’re seeing? How has functional equipment changed at your facility over the past few years?
PH: There have been definite trends leading toward bodyweight training, Olympic-style lifting, medicine ball training, athletic development and self-myofascial release. Over the years, Grayton Beach Fitness has added a greater variety of medicine balls, instability training devices, Versa Tubes, stability balls and TRX. I constantly pursue safe and effective equipment that motivate and inspire someone to either begin training or to continue training to their potential.
CS: Is there anything else you can share with other club owners about the benefits of working with Power Systems?
PH: Power Systems offers a plethora of great products that can completely outfit any facility. I have come to the conclusion that their team of people are the key to the success of Power Systems: From the customer that communicates their needs to the customer service team member that listens and offers solutions, which may include developing new products. I have been a customer of Power Systems since 1994 and have always been pleased by their team of professionals.
