With more than 3,600 gyms that altogether serve nearly three million members, Anytime Fitness is without a doubt one of the most successful health club brands in the fitness industry.
Recently, Anytime Fitness CEO Chuck Runyon and president Dave Mortensen revealed the keys to that success in their book Love Work: Inspire A High-Performing Work Culture at the Center of People, Purpose, Profits, and Play.
Set to hit shelves August 25, the book’s goal is to serve as a “how-to” manual for leaders, including insight into developing a thriving workplace culture.
“Culture is the personality of your business,” said Runyon, in a statement. “It has become highly scrutinized because in business, everyone wants to win, and will identify, study and copy any behavior that gives them an extra edge to claim victory over opponents. In the last four decades, one thing has consistently risen to the top as a powerful competitive advantage across all industries: workplace culture. Love Work provides a roadmap for companies to make a major shift — to direct more energy toward enhancing culture, assembling and empowering the right team, and in the process grow their businesses to unimaginable new heights.”
The book shares the secrets of both Runyon and Mortensen’s leadership mentality, including tangible tactics to inspire others to “love work” as much as they do. It also discusses the company’s focus on the “4 Ps,” which include People, Purpose, Profits and Play.
“Culture is the top competitive advantage,” Runyon continued. “The key to creating a high-performance culture is achieving high employee engagement through the 4Ps. When your team members find fulfillment in their jobs at multiple levels, then they truly begin to Love Work.”
