One of the highlights at the newly renovated and expanded Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago is The Field, a 40-yard turf indoor sport field.
According to Richard Earney, the national program director of Midtown Athletic Clubs, a lot of times turf fields within clubs end up being underutilized, with most programming centered around boot camps.
That isn’t the case with The Field. According to Earney, Midtown Athletic Clubs has developed five unique programs for the turf space, each with its own ingredients, vernacular, verbiage and playlist.
“It’s one thing to create these spaces, but it’s another thing to bring them alive,” said Earney.
Examples of programming that will be held on The Field include the following, with descriptions courtesy of the Midtown site:
VOLTAGE
“Find your zone, then push yourself there, using MYZONE technology to maximize your effort and results. Real time heart rate feedback will show you exactly how hard you’re working. And believe us, you’ll be working.”
The MOB
“Hustle! This team-based workout for all levels has the spirit of a MOB (Metabolic Oxygen Burn) as you stick together to elevate your fitness using functional movements and the tools of the turf.”
Everyday Athlete
“Relive your glory days on The Field as you unleash your inner athlete while participating in seasonal, team-based sports. This season, the focus is football.”
“Every program has its own ingredients and this is an incredible space to do it,” said Earney. “Programming is the future of fitness.”
