O2 Fitness, one of the largest fitness companies in the South, is expanding again. The fitness brand is opening its newest and largest facility to date on James Island, South Carolina, bringing its total number of clubs to 24.
Boasting 28,000 square feet, the James Island location will be a flagship club for the brand. It is now open for memberships and features indoor and outdoor functional training, a full schedule of fitness classes, a mind-body yoga studio, barre, Pilates and stretching.
“As the largest of 24 facilities across the Carolinas, this new club is a major step towards our mission of making a healthy lifestyle more attractive and accessible in the Lowcountry,” said Michael Olander, Jr., the CEO of O2 Fitness Clubs, in a statement. “Whether you’re looking for an energizing group fitness class, one-on-one session with a personal trainer or child care while you get your ‘me time’ in, this new facility has more options than ever for all ages and fitness levels.”
Olander stressed the importance of O2’s culture in driving member engagement. “The most important aspect of this club to note though is the welcoming, inclusive and fun fitness community that anyone who walks in our doors will experience,” he said. “That’s what matters.”
Additional services and amenities include a dedicated cycle studio, functional training space, TRX, unlimited group fitness classes, and a cyber lounge with free Wi-Fi. The club also features a kids club, luxurious locker rooms, towel service and two free program design sessions with a personal trainer.
Michael D. Olander, Jr. founded O2 Fitness in 2003. Olander, Jr. is also the founder of MDO Holdings, a North Carolina-based investment and management firm focused on opportunities in three primary areas: fitness, start-up development and commercial real estate.
