Risk Management with the Club’s Success in Mind

When it comes to running a health club, nothing is more important than the safety of your members and staff. With this in mind, Club Northwest sought to work with a risk management company that would be an ally in the club’s safety, and an advocate for its success. Here, Scott Draper, the owner of Club Northwest, shares how they found that ally in The Cincinnati Insurance Company.

CS: How were you introduced to The Cincinnati Insurance Company, and why did you decide to work with them? 

SD: We were introduced by our insurance agent, Mark O’Hara from Hart Insurance, who advised that we should consider Cincinnati. We originally switched to support Mark and Hart Insurance, and we are now very glad we made the switch.

CS: What are the benefits to your business as a result of this relationship?

SD: We were not unhappy with our previous insurance relationship. But now we have an ally in Cincinnati; a true supporter of our success. We take our relationship with all stakeholders – including vendors, business partners, members and suppliers – very seriously. We learned long ago that who we choose to hang out with has a huge effect on our outcomes. We feel that with Cincinnati we have the best insurance support in the business.

CS: What are the benefits to your members as a result of this relationship?  

SD: At Club Northwest, our highest mission is our members’ and guests’ experience of wellness here now. With Cincinnati’s focus on ways we can improve safety for our patrons, that important aspect of our highest mission has never been stronger.

CS: Have you been pleasantly surprised by working with The Cincinnati Insurance Company in any way?  

SD: Yes. It is a joy working with Jay Scott, national program director for Cincinnati’s Fitness, Sports & Recreation program, and his team. The Cincinnati team truly cares about the safety of our members and the club’s bottom line, and has the experience and expertise to dynamically support both.

CS: What else can you tell other club owners about the benefits of working with The Cincinnati Insurance Company?

JD: If you want to work with an insurance company that puts the end user — you and your club — first, consider Cincinnati. Everything from their policies, programs, practices, staffing and rates has been created and managed with the club’s success in mind.
