A Club That Plays Together, Stays Together

You know the saying, “A family that plays together, stays together?” Well the same concept applies to health clubs. Those facilities that participate in fun activities as a group form tighter bonds among employees and members.

A great example is The Edge Fitness Clubs, which for the past five years has put together a fun, holiday jingle video featuring its staff and members. Here, Laura Altieri, the marketing coordinator for The Edge Fitness Clubs, explains how the concept came about.

CS: How did the idea for the holiday jingle video come about?

LA: The idea for our holiday jingle video first started five years ago and we’ve done it every year since. It’s a fun tradition, which the members and employees really look forward to. We love making fun and creative videos and content that we can share, since The Edge Fitness Clubs are such a fun place to work at. We believe our energy and staff are truly our differentiator from our competitors and this is a great way to showcase that.

CS: What is the goal of the video?

LA: The goal of the video is to highlight our unique staff, bring great energy and thank our members for a fantastic year, while wishing them a happy holiday season. Our goal the first year was to try to get it to go viral! We’re still working on this — one day it will!

CS: Were members and staff excited to participate in the video?

LA: The staff and members love being in the video. We try to get as much staff from as many locations and departments as possible so you can see our front desk teams, Group X instructors, management, trainers and Edge Kids. This year we were able to get our New Jersey and Connecticut clubs involved.

CS: Was the video easy to produce?

LA: It’s worth the time put in since everyone looks forward to it. The hardest part, believe it or not, is getting everyone to sing on key (or close enough) so that it can match with the background music.

CS: Are there any tips you can share for other clubs looking to do a similar idea?

LA: For any clubs looking to do something fun for the holidays, the best advice is to be original, be creative and use what they feel best describes their club’s personality.

CS: How are your marketing the video?

LA: We share the video with all of our members, we post it to our social media pages and to our blog.

CS: Are there any other fun holiday activities you’re doing?

LA: Some other fun holiday activities we did this year at The Edge Fitness Clubs included “Hide the Elf on the Shelf” in the clubs and followed his journey on Instagram. This was fun for the members and employees to engage with and see. We have more fun activities coming for January.

Stay ahead in the fitness industry with exclusive updates!
