For many health clubs, aquatic facilities are a key differentiator. Clubs that boast a combination of indoor and outdoor pools have higher chances of attracting and retaining families, triathletes, and gym-goers that simply enjoy being in the water.
However, there are a variety of different amenities and water features clubs can choose to include in their aquatic facilities. With this in mind, here are snapshots of aquatic facilities at clubs across the nation, showcasing how different clubs chose to approach water-based activities.
Fitness Formula Clubs
In 2017, Fitness Formula Clubs opened its 10 location — FFC Park Ridge — in Chicago. The 66,000-square-foot facility boasts a number of high-end amenities and unique activities for members to enjoy, including a six-lane indoor pool and an outdoor pool with a sundeck and Splash Bar.
VillaSport Athletic Club & Spa
Founded in 2007, VillaSport Athletic Club & Spa boasts five high-end locations in California, Colorado, Texas and Oregon, with another two in development. The brand’s clubs provide members with access to amenities such as indoor and outdoor pool complexes — enveloped in luxury, resort-style settings.
Merritt Clubs
Earlier this year, Baltimore’s Merritt Clubs completed a $20 million expansion of its Canton neighborhood facility. The result included a rooftop boasting two pools, a hot tub, seating for 500 guests, a full kitchen and bar, and 360-degree views of the city that sit atop a brand-new, seven-story parking garage with 300-plus spots.
Stafford Hills Club
Stafford Hills Club in Tualatin, Oregon, was completed and opened its doors in December 2012. What was once a rugged piece of land was transformed into a world-class campus featuring a resort-style outdoor pool and aquatics center, among other amenities.
Franco’s Athletic Club
The Franco’s Athletic Club family got its start in 1986, when Ron and Sandy Franco moved to Mandeville, Louisiana, with a dream of owning their own health club. Over the years, the club has doubled in size to encompass family-friendly amenities such as a water park that includes a child-themed pool and water slide.
