How were you introduced to The Cincinnati Insurance Company, and why did you decide to work with them?
BB: We’ve had the same insurance agent for many years: Charlie Daniels from Rose and Kiernan, Inc. Charlie is a great insurance agent and a real friend. In 2013, he recommended we look into Cincinnati Insurance. We had several meetings and felt they were a good fit for our insurance needs.
How has The Cincinnati Insurance Company educated you on risk management? What have you learned?
BB: We quickly learned The Cincinnati Insurance Company is different than other insurance companies. They sent in a risk management team very early to see what we were doing and offer advice on how we might reduce our risk. These weren’t huge changes being recommended. Rather, they were small, commonsense shifts that, when implemented, allowed us to reduce our overall operational risk. I’ve grown to appreciate these meetings more every year. For example, they advised us to add a risk transfer clause into all contracts we have with service and maintenance contractors. This seemingly small change in contract language greatly reduces our risk from their possible exposure.
How would you describe The Cincinnati Insurance Company’s customer support?
BB: Cincinnati has helped us clean up our accident investigation and reporting — we do a much better job after taking their advice. The end result for our members is getting better follow-up when accidents or issues arise that need insurance attention. Cincinnati gets full reports quickly, which allows them to follow up with our members, when necessary, to let them know exactly what they can expect from us. This makes members happier. Happy members make for a happy business.
Have you been pleasantly surprised in any way by working with The Cincinnati Insurance Company?
BB: The best part of working with Cincinnati Insurance is you have real people to reach out to when a problem arises. As a whole, the insurance industry has made it easy to throw darts at them. Phone calls and insurance requests are often met with legalese and contract quotes denying coverage. This has not been my experience with Cincinnati Insurance — I speak to people who want to help.
