Elite Sports Clubs announced its five locations in the greater Milwaukee area are changing ownership. Peter Goldman, the owner of Lakeshore Sports & Fitness in Chicago, Illinois, has acquired the brand and is excited for what the future holds.

“There’s so much to learn,” said Goldman. “While they’re the same business in so many ways, there’s so many people to get to know who have made this business great over the past 30 years.”

A broker approached Kay Yuspeh, the former owner of Elite Sports Clubs, and said he had someone who was interested in multiple clubs — so in March she met with Goldman. Yuspeh said they immediately jived.

“If you have great staff, great members and great facilities, the rest will fall into place,” said Yuspeh. “Peter is just an honest, good person. As I’m introducing him around, it just comes out even more that I made the right decision.”

Goldman has made it a top priority to get to know Elite’s staff members and align all the back-office systems. He explained it’s great timing to be getting involved with the business.

“Q1 is busy and ready to go, and that’s what Kay had,” Goldman explained. “The team is ready to go; they’ve got all the plans cooking. So, there’s not a lot to change or do or alter or think about. I just need to learn it and be a great resource for the team.”

While Yuspeh is no longer an owner, she’s still staying involved with the business. “He [Peter] is keeping me on as an advisor or consultant,” she explained. “There were quite a few programs I was currently working on and he’s encouraging me to move forward.”

Goldman was very impressed by Elite Sports Clubs’ Quad at their River Glen location. In the future they hope to open a Quad at the Brookfield location and in Chicago at Lakeshore Sports & Fitness, with guidance and suggestions from Yuspeh.

Overall, Yuspeh is excited about Goldman keeping the club’s name, staff and relationships and just growing the business even more. “Our job is to preserve and continue Kay’s legacy of having innovate, great clubs,” said Goldman. “That’s what Elite is and that’s what Elite will be.”
