5 Technology Features that Trainers Love

Brian O’ Leary, a Zenoti technology consultant, shares five technology features that your trainers will love.

Class instructors and trainers serve a special role at fitness centers: They bring a health club or studio’s offerings to life. While member satisfaction is often a top priority for club operators, it’s just as important to keep your trainers and instructors happy and motivated.

When considering fitness management software, you’ll gain the greatest benefits from a complete platform — one that reduces work and frees up your staff to focus on helping members achieve their goals.

Look for a platform with the following technology features:

  1. A mobile app for staff with built-in instructor substitution
Instructors can check their schedules on the app and sync their work schedule to their personal calendar.

An app with built-in instructor substitution eases the pain of finding a replacement when a staff member can’t cover a class. A few quick taps on their phone saves your instructors the hassle of text chains and phone tag. There’s also less administrative back-and-forth when qualified instructors can submit and accept substitution requests with or without manager approval.

  2. Member visit and class tracking
When your software tracks new members, their birthdays, visit counts, and class completions, instructors can give shoutouts to recognize members in their classes.

By helping instructors motivate their students, you’ll boost the feel-good factor for both, raising member morale and satisfaction. Your software does all the tracking so staff can simply lead the applause and high-fives.

  3. Class hybrid options
Your instructors work hard at community building, so be sure to equip them with tools that extend their impact to virtual settings.

A software platform should automatically generate virtual meeting links for classes and appointments, with registrants receiving “join” links through a booking confirmation email or text. When it’s time to start a virtual class, instructors can easily launch sessions from their employee mobile app.

  4. Access to payroll data
Enable staff to view their pay information through the employee mobile app. Similarly, each staff member should have access to bonus and commission tracking, so they can see their performance and stay motivated. Coaches appreciate the transparency, and management can reduce payroll-related communications to staff.

  5. Front-desk and sales functionality
When trainers and class instructors can manage check-ins, memberships, purchases, and appointments from their mobile app, it streamlines operations and saves members an extra stop at the front desk. Empower your entire team to own their jobs and take charge of their day. You’ll optimize flexibility and keep members happy, too.

When you choose easy-to-use software designed to support your staff, you empower them to do their jobs well. Make it a pleasure to work for your business, and your talented coaches and trainers will likely reward you with their loyalty and high performance.

Stay ahead in the fitness industry with exclusive updates!
