Peake Media, the parent company of Club Solutions Magazine, is excited to welcome Crystal Wheeler to the team as the vice president of events and partnerships.
With over 16 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, Wheeler will help lead event operations, manage industry relationships and strategically grow opportunities under the Peake Media umbrella.
Prior to joining Peake Media, Wheeler was the client relations manager for Club Industry. While there, she wore various hats encompassing sales, planning and execution of virtual and live events, product development, and customer service.
Wheeler’s career in the fitness industry began on the manufacturer’s side representing FitBALL brand accessories. This has granted her client knowledge on both sides of the industry. During her tenure with Club Industry, she cultivated global relationships and worked closely with some of the largest and best-known brands in the industry.
When not helping educate and empower health and fitness professionals, Wheeler enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and their Blue Heeler, Goose in Fort Collins, Colorado. In the spring, summer, and fall you will find them enjoying their hobbies of camping, dirt biking, mountain biking, hiking and white water rafting every weekend in the Rocky Mountains.
Here, Wheeler shares in her own words what she’s looking forward to in her new role, why she felt Peake Media was a good fit and where there are opportunities to grow within the industry.
What is your favorite thing about working in this industry?
That is easy, the people. This industry affects every age, every special population, everyone across the globe, and literally every industry from schools, fitness facilities, hospitals and long-term care facilities. There is not one group that health, fitness and wellness doesn’t touch.
Why is Peake Media a good fit for you?
This organization is a small, but mighty team that’s wrapping their arms around every facet of our industry. The intent is to educate, connect and empower everyone. These are good core values that I embrace.
What will be your responsibility with Peake Media?
In my role, I get to wear several hats which is super exciting for me. Operationally, I will be working on all stages of executing our events. With that, I will work with all team members on our editorial side helping to curate content as well as helping the sales team develop sponsorship packages and opportunities. All of these ensure the continued success of our events. I will also analyze each event and evaluate if there are ways to strategically make improvements and still provide the best experience for our attendees and sponsors.
What do you hope to accomplish working with Peake Media?
I hope to bring new ideas and new relationships to the team. I foresee us uncovering new opportunities together and putting those ideas into action. I’m excited to be part of this team who is open to growth and advancement, and collectively wants to bring our industry together in a multitude of ways.
Where do you see opportunity within the health club industry?
Opportunity surrounds us. We need to do a better job bringing in studios, boutiques and franchisees into our community. This segment has grown tremendously, and we need to get their voices and ideas heard. I think the key is “co-opetition” not competition. We can all learn and take-away something from one another in our industry globally. That mindset could propel us all into a cohesive group that’s fighting the same fight.
