From September 10-12, 2023, fitness professionals will gather for the 2023 Club Solutions Leadership Retreat at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
The 2.5-day event will feature a panel discussion on Wellness and Recovery Trends sponsored by CryoBuilt, featuring a rock-star line up of experts. This includes:
- Edward Navan, the co-founder and CVO of Regymen Fitness and The Covery Wellness Spa
- Mike Feeney, the executive vice president of NEV
- Ani Oksayan, the vice president of fitness at Chuze Fitness
- Derek Gallup, the chief experience officer at UFC GYM
- Beth Smits, the senior vice president of operations and services at 24 Hour Fitness
- Marcus Wilson, the CEO of CryoBuilt
Moderated by Rachel Zabonick-Chonko, the panel discussion will aim to educate those in attendance on the future of wellness and recovery. Talking points include:
- Why recovery/wellness are trending segments in the fitness industry.
- Examples of amenities, programs, services or offerings clubs are investing in within this space.
- Tips for packaging or monetizing these offerings.
- Predictions on the future of the recovery trend. What can the industry/consumers expect to see?
This idea for this panel discussion stemmed from the 2022 event, during which attendees expressed a desire to continue discussing the opportunity surrounding recovery and wellness.
“The idea of recovery and fitness to enhance mental health has been around for years, but the discussions around these topics [at the 2022 event] were on a different level, with higher importance being put on how we can reach those not currently engaging in fitness,” said Deb Heisler, a regional vice president for Active Wellness. “The thought of coming back from COVID-19 and rebuilding the same fitness model is an antiquated thought process, as no one is quite the same post-pandemic. The most impactful piece to me was realizing we need to shift our mindset, marketing and programming from the sole focus on cardio, strength and typical fitness club activities to more passive health and wellness items. The goal is to draw in those not currently engaged in our clubs, and provide an enhanced comfort level and knowledge, resulting in more active participants in our clubs.”
