For this customer spotlight, Club Solutions sat down with Steele Sacks, the president and owner of Snap Fitness, to talk about his experience partnering with UPshow:
How were you introduced to UPshow and why did you decide to partner with them?
SS: Prior to UPshow, we were using all of our own videos for social media and marketing. We’d produce a monthly video and we’d have it on our club TVs. It was taking an enormous amount of time to create this video content for seven clubs. We came across UPshow in Club Solutions Magazine, and it seemed like it was a perfect fit for us. It allows the management team to give their input on what they believe we should be featuring across all clubs.
How has using UPshow’s platform benefitted your business?
SS: The trainers use it a lot, and that’s been one of the main benefits. Our trainers will use it to highlight some of their clients. Managers will also use it to highlight the fitness classes we have going on. So when people come in and want to know what’s happening, it’s featured through UPshow. We feature anything we can think of that would be relevant, at the moment it’s happening.
From a marketing perspective, it’s very beneficial. We can get our messages out immediately, and we get to feature a lot of members. For example, if someone gives us a review for five stars, we’ll throw a T-shirt at them, give them a water bottle, take a picture and they go on our UPshow feed. It definitely encourages more reviews. And the point of our marketing is not to always highlight people who are extremely athletic — we try to highlight real people, who can do real things in the gym.
Are there any other benefits of UPshow you’d like to share?
SS: One of the things we’ve noticed is trainers who want a little more exposure have really latched onto this. They’re posting pictures of themselves training, highlighting their fitness classes and boot camps, and highlighting their clients. That was kind of a hidden benefit.
Why should other club operators consider working with UPshow?
SS: I’ve found serious cost savings from doing this. What I was trying to do in-house was causing an employee to spend 15 hours a month creating video content and fighting with managers over it. Now I’ve got something that, within the first month, we saw immediate payback. Yeah, it costs us a little money on a monthly basis, but saving 15 hours and a lot of headaches is massive for us. Cost savings for us has probably been the best and most important benefit.
