Urban Active Fights Sedentary Lifestyles with “Urban Yoga”

On Saturday, June 23rd Urban Active hosted a free “Urban Yoga” event for the local community in downtown Lexington, Ky. A popular yoga class for Urban Active, Urban Yoga is suitable for all ages and skill levels, and the free outdoor event drew around 100 participants.

Sponsored by Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, Saul Good and Big Ass Fans, participants were given free treats in celebration of working towards good health and fitness. “Urban Active is committed to doing what it can to encourage its community to get active,” said Silvie Bordeaux, a public relations specialist for Urban Active. Lexington was recently voted as the most sedentary city in the U.S., and the event was hosted in hopes of encouraging Lexington residents to get moving

“Urban Active Group X director Wendy Jett was thrilled with the turn out and the people had a great time and have asked Urban Active to continue doing events like this,” said Bordeaux.

This is just one of Urban Active’s efforts to get community members moving away from a sedentary lifestyle. In February, Urban Active ended its 10-city “Get Active Challenge, a response to Men’s Health Magazine’s report on “America’s Most Sedentary Cities.”
