Snap Fitness announced it has signed master agreements that will bring the 24/7 fitness franchise to Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt and Mexico.
According to Peter Taunton, the founder and CEO of Snap Fitness, over 700 new locations are planned to open in the new markets over the next five years, with new clubs opening in Singapore, Egypt and Mexico City in the first quarter of 2013.
“Health and fitness are universal concerns,” said Taunton. “Our model provides a quick and convenient workout that resonates with any demographic and ethnicity. We look forward to our continued growth across the globe and are eager to see where the Snap Fitness brand takes us next.”
The new master franchisee for Egypt, Tamer Rakha, plans on opening over 28 new locations in Egypt over the next five years, including a women’s-only Snap Fitness, which is expected to open in Heliopolis, Egypt, in early 2013.
In Mexico, Snap Fitness signed two separate deals, which will make Snap Fitness the largest fitness chain in Mexico.
Richard Lowe was signed as the master franchisee for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, and plans on opening 500 clubs throughout Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines over the next 10 years. His first location is expected to open in Singapore at the beginning of 2013.
According to Snap Fitness, in addition to these recently added countries, the franchise plans to continue its momentum in 2013 by entering an additional four to six international markets by the end of 2013.
