Inspect what you're expecting

Being in charge of a group of people can be stressful. If you are in any type of management role, you have felt it. Are they going to execute what you have taught and trained them to do? Moreover, do they have the common sense to be the employee you expect?

All good questions right?

The best answer to this question is … Ask questions of them!

If your staff doesn’t know why your company does things a certain way, they can’t answer with confidence. Yes, you can teach and train them how to do something a certain way. However, what happens is variations —any interaction that didn’t go like we think it should have gone.

We at GHF ask, why do we do it that way? If they don’t know the why, we use it as a teachable moment. We let them know why we do that this way. It is great to see the excitement on their faces when they realize why something makes sense. The best feeling ever is seeing their confidence go through the roof.

We hire for our culture and our four core values of integrity, hardworking, extraordinary commitment to helping others and creating our own future. The staff we hire embody these core values so we already have an edge. They think the way we think.

There are always tests, what would life be without tests? Tests are everyday life interactions with other employees and members.

Always teach and coach your staff. They will learn and you will be an asset to them. They will feel comfortable asking questions even before things happen. Open communication makes life so much easier.

I challenge you to inspect what you expect, every day.
