On Monday, March 20th, Spring officially took hold in the Northern Hemisphere, bringing it with it signs of warmer weather, green grass and sunshine.
Throughout the month of May, Anytime Fitness franchises across the U.S. will take advantage of the spring weather and offer free workouts outdoors that are open to the general public.
‘May Free Workouts’ got its start in 2015. This year, around 700 Anytime Fitness gyms will participate. Locations will host several outdoor events in local parks and community areas, such as relay races, obstacle courses and musical games. The free workouts are open to anyone, regardless of membership.
According to Dave Mortensen, co-founder and president of Anytime Fitness, the goal of offering free workouts isn’t to recruit new members, but instead to encourage more people to move.
“It is simply our way of motivating entire communities to be more active,” said Mortensen. “Exercise has a bad reputation in some circles. People think it’s hard work. We want to show folks that it can be a fun way for friends and families to lead healthier lifestyles and have a few laughs while they’re doing it. If participants like our philosophy, and decide that they would like to join one of our gyms and become part of the Anytime Fitness community, then that is an extra added bonus.”
Anytime Fitness boasts more than 3,500 gyms serving nearly 3,000,000 members worldwide.
