Inside the Dynamic Workouts and Spaces TRX Brought to the Greenwood YMCA

Here, Johnathan Bass, the director of operations at the Greenwood Family YMCA in Greenwood, South Carolina, shares how TRX helped totally transform his facility’s fitness programming:
How were you introduced to TRX and why did you decide to partner with them?
JB: Last year we entered into an innovative partnership with Self Regional Healthcare to streamline wellness access to our community. The leadership team at Self Regional introduced us to the incredible benefits of TRX during our transition of taking on their wellness and fitness operations. Seeing is believing — after visiting several of their classes, we were 100 percent all in on bringing TRX to the Y.
How has TRX helped enhance your fitness offerings?
JB: We had a net increase of 600 membership units after the TRX installation in our Athletic Performance Gym. We placed the system right smack in the middle of our expanded gym. The dynamic TRX brought to this new space is amazing. From our swim team, gymnastics team and triathletes to LIVESTRONG at the Y participants and senior adults, members love it — TRX produces results in all member populations. The innovative programming the TRX provided us with was easy to implement.
What do your members love most about TRX?
JB: It’s dynamic. It provides a great way to initiate health seekers into weight training, provides extremely conditioned individuals with a workout you will not forget, and provides our post-surgery rehab program with the ability to strengthen in a safe, controlled environment. Being able to take TRX with you is another huge advantage that members love.
How would you rate TRX’s customer service and support?
JB: We wanted to make a statement by opening our Athletic Performance Gym. I shared this dream with our rep, Amanda. After spending 30 minutes on the phone with her, she told me to keep an eye on my inbox. Amanda and the TRX design team delivered an incredible 3D view of the picture that I could not put into words for our partners, board and staff. I had the TRX-provided images printed on huge boards thinking I was going to need to make this pitch many times. It took one presentation and the project was totally funded. Amanda and the team made this process so simple. Our experience from sale, logistics, install and training was incredible.
Why should other club operators consider working with TRX?
JB: The last two words of the YMCA Mission Statement are ”for all.” TRX is for all.
