How Wizehire has simplified and enhanced the hiring process specifically for fitness studios.

When a cinema in Austin, Texas, needed help with hiring, the Wizehire team rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

“We gave them an interview guide for every candidate, helped them write three good job descriptions and posted them on job sites,” said Melissa Woodring, the vice president of client success at Wizehire. “That’s really where the magic of Wizehire started.”

Growing from serving one movie theatre to over 18,000 businesses, today Wizehire’s hiring platform empowers companies to expertly craft and share job posts to 100-plus traditional and niche job boards with just one click, increasing visibility and attracting a larger pool of qualified candidates.

As Wizehire has expanded, the company has gravitated toward industries with unique hiring needs that weren’t being addressed by other hiring solutions — like the fitness industry.

“We know success in the fitness industry depends a lot on the skills and charisma of gym staff,” said Woodring. “Wizehire offers a hiring platform tailored for health and fitness clubs, focusing on the traits that are essential in this industry, like interpersonal skills, motivation techniques and deep knowledge about fitness. Whether a health club is looking to hire certified trainers, nutrition experts or front desk staff, Wizehire’s solutions cater to the diverse roles within a fitness club, empowering them to find the right fit every time.”

One way this is carried out is through various screening tools, like Wizehire’s proprietary DISC+ personality assessment, a behavioral assessment and personality profiling tool, that offers more than just a glance at resumes.

The DISC+ takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete and gives you a deep dive into the unique personality traits of each applicant, making it one of the most efficient hiring assessment tools available. This allows businesses to find candidates who have the right qualifications, embody their brand and ethos, and succeed in the role long term.

The DISC+ assessment is also what led Woodring to join the Wizehire team.

Prior, Woodring worked in consulting for 10 years, specifically arming business consultants with content to coach their clients into being better managers, leaders and individual contributors. As part of her consulting work, she teamed up with Jay Niblick, behavioral science innovator and Wizehire co-founder, and became a certified DISC+ trainer.

“When Wizehire hit its 100th customer milestone, they knew they needed to bring in more people to support customers; that’s when I joined Wizehire,” said Woodring. “With my DISC+ knowledge and consulting experience, it was a natural transition to begin offering Wizehire’s customers support and coaching. It was exciting to take the knowledge I already had around DISC+ and business coaching and merge it with helping customers find the right hires for their open roles. I immediately felt connected to the company’s mission, the people and their vision for the future.”

However, the DISC+ assessment isn’t Wizehire’s only key to success. Its real superpower is the same as any gym — the people.

“Wizehire prides itself on our customer success team, full of Wizehire coaches — real human beings — who give our customers pointers every step of the way,” said Woodring. “This team’s mission is to partner with club owners and managers to provide best practices, tools and resources when they need it or offer direction even when they might not realize they need it. Coaches are here to help fitness businesses through every part of their hiring process with our exceptionally deep knowledge of their greatest hiring challenges and biggest team-building opportunities. Anyone can post a job on any job board on their own, but who is actively looking out for your success?”

Wizehire’s coaches’ assist with:

  • Giving industry-expert advice on writing a compelling job description.
  • Sharing local job market insights so employers can succeed in their community.
  • Monitoring every job post’s performance and making sure it doesn’t get buried by the competition.
  • Providing guidance at every stage of the recruitment and hiring process via chat, video, phone or email.

“Finding great talent is only the start,” explained Woodring. “Once someone does, our team will stand beside them as they go through the rest of the journey. By teaming up together we can help owners and managers use our product to not only find talent, but interview, hire and onboard with ease. We can also point them toward cost savings with potential tax credits and payroll resources beyond the hire.”

Overall, Wizehire knows firsthand that entrepreneurship is not an easy path. After all, it’s their path, too. That’s why it’s committed to customers in the fitness industry and is continuing to iterate and innovate on solutions to the challenges customers are seeking.

Wizehire recently expanded its product line to help businesses provide a best-in-class employee experience just like their Fortune 500 competitors by launching Onboarding and Beyond. This suite of tools will elevate the employee experience and streamline the onboarding process for growing gyms, fitness studios and health clubs.

“We’re helping them transition from world-class hiring to world-class onboarding,” explained Woodring. “Small and growing health clubs are at a disadvantage when it comes to the resources, tools and talent essential to their success. Clubs deserve better. We’re leveling the playing field right now for each and every gym out there.”

Woodring said they’ve simplified and enhanced the hiring process specifically for fitness studios to empower them to recruit trainers and staff who not only possess the right qualifications, but also embody the brand and ethos of their gym.

“When a health and fitness club succeeds in making a great hire, we succeed, too,” said Woodring. “We want to help them do it again and again as their business continues to grow.”
