Corpus Christi Athletic Club has announced the promotion of Matt Westmoreland to the role of general manager and president.
Westmoreland previously served as the club’s director of racquet sports, overseeing both tennis and pickleball operations — two of the facility’s most popular and successful departments. He brings more than a decade of experience with the club, having held positions at nearly every level since first joining the team.
A Leader Who Grew from Within
Westmoreland’s journey with Corpus Christi Athletic Club began shortly after graduating from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, where he played collegiate tennis. Over the years, he’s steadily advanced within the organization, gaining experience in programming, operations and staff development.
His background in coaching and player development has shaped his leadership approach, emphasizing collaboration, mentorship and continuous improvement.

Focused on Culture and Community
As general manager and president, Westmoreland plans to prioritize strengthening staff culture, enhancing member engagement and deepening community relationships. His leadership vision centers on positioning Corpus Christi Athletic Club as a hub for health and wellness in South Texas.
Westmoreland has been instrumental in uniting the local raquet sports community, expanding programming and driving participation. His goal is to bring that same sense of connection and enthusiasm to the entire club experience.
“We were very budget focused and numbers focused; I want more purpose and passion,” said Westmoreland. “That’s how I led my department with tennis before and then with all raquets, because that was my passion and my love, right? I was just so excited about everything I was doing. If you really, truly care about what you believe in and what you’re selling, you don’t even have to really sell it. It’s easy. I’m trying to get that with the entire staff, to get them believing and leading with purpose and passion.”
A Commitment to Growth
In addition to his extensive club experience, Westmoreland holds an MBA and has participated in national leadership and professional development programs within the fitness industry. He credits his commitment to learning and growth as key to his professional success.
His appointment marks the start of a new chapter for Corpus Christi Athletic Club, with a continued focus on delivering exceptional experiences for both members and staff.
