Chuze Fitness is lowering stress for their members by offering childcare, allowing parents to prioritize their health again.
According to a recent study by the American Psychological Association, stress levels have vastly increased over the last year with 48% of parents saying the level of stress in their lives has increased compared with before the pandemic.
Mental health has been named the parallel pandemic to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s vital to find ways to help your members make their mental health a priority. One way Chuze Fitness is helping is through their Kids Club. With this offering, parents can start prioritizing their mental and physical health again without stressing about finding a sitter.
We sat down with Jackie Squire, the director of Kids Club at Chuze Fitness, to learn more.
How is Chuze Fitness lowering stress levels for parents?
Our entire focus is to provide a clean, safe and fun environment for the children to enjoy so the parents can take time for themselves. Inside Kids Club, we are teaching the importance of social interaction and physical movement. When the children are truly excited to interact and engage, we know we’re doing something special for the parents. The combination of getting an awesome workout, grabbing a tasty recovery shake, and picking up your children who had fun and were kept safe is about as de-stressing as life can be.
How does offering childcare help parents reduce stress?
For some of our parents this may be attending a fitness class or swimming a few laps in the pool. Others may take a spa day and relax in the sauna, enjoy a HydroMassage and then grab a nutritious smoothie on the way out. We suspect we are helping reduce stress the most when a parent has finally taken their first uninterrupted shower in weeks — or so we’ve heard.
Why is it important for health clubs to prioritize mental health moving forward?
Mental health is physical health and it’s important to prioritize both. Self-care is essential for everyone and especially for parents. A little time to focus on themselves allows them to show up better for their loved ones. When adults set this example in their families, it betters our communities and positively impacts future generations.
Self-care time is critical in setting our members up for success. Kids Club serves as a resource that helps to fundamentally lower stress levels and improve overall well-being — it’s not just reps and sets.
