Steve Ayers, the SVP of business development at ROR Partners, shares tips for maximizing retention with data-driven strategies.

For health club owners and operators, member retention is often more valuable than acquisition. Ensuring your existing members continue their memberships requires a strategic approach to marketing. One of the most effective ways to increase retention is by leveraging data-driven marketing strategies. Using geospatial technology, fitness clubs can track when and where members interact with their facilities, helping to personalize engagement efforts. For example, gyms can send location-based promotions or reminders to members, encouraging them to return to the gym during off-peak hours or after a long hiatus. This type of targeted messaging fosters a more personalized experience, strengthening the relationship between the gym and its members.

Additionally, custom audience technology allows health clubs to segment their member base more effectively. By analyzing factors such as age, fitness goals and visit frequency, clubs can tailor their communication to the unique needs of different groups. A member-focused approach can drive loyalty and engagement with messages resonating more deeply with each member. Lastly, AI can optimize your marketing content by testing different scripts, pictures and voiceovers. By analyzing which combinations perform best with your target audience, AI can create more effective ads and messages. The result is a more engaged, satisfied membership base and stronger long-term retention.

Stay ahead in the fitness industry with exclusive updates!
