The Power of Studio Row at Newtown Athletic Club

Why pay for multiple boutique studio memberships when you can access nine boutique-style studios all in one hallway?

At the Newtown Athletic Club (NAC), that’s exactly what we’ve created with Studio Row. This unique concept brings together nine distinct boutique experiences under one roof: FIT22 Strength Studio, Barre Lab, 105 Hot Studio, REV Cycling, Pulse (high intensity), Six Zone (self-guided HIIT), The Practice (traditional yoga), Reform (reformer Pilates with 13 reformers), and Sculpt Pilates (reformer and tower Pilates with 17 reformers). The best part: every class, including reformer Pilates, is included in a standard NAC membership.

In March 2026, we launched our two newest additions to Studio Row: 105 Hot Studio and Sculpt Pilates. I had the opportunity to be deeply involved in the vision, design, programming and launch of both spaces.

The hot studio concept had been in development at the NAC for nearly eight years. However, as fitness trends evolved, it became clear that a traditional hot yoga studio no longer reflected where the fitness industry was going with heated environments. Today, modalities like hot Pilates, hot strength and hot sculpt are just as in-demand as yoga. We changed the vision of the space entirely. Transforming it into a multi-modality “hot studio” designed to meet the modern members where they are.

Pilates presented a similar opportunity for growth. Our existing reformer studio, Reform, holds 13 reformers and was already operating at high capacity. In response to growing demand, we increased our weekly class offerings from 40 to 52, but it still wasn’t enough.

That’s when NAC owner Jim Worthington posed a simple but powerful question: “Why don’t we just make a bigger Pilates studio?”

From there, Sculpt was created. A second Pilates studio equipped with 17 tower reformers. With both studios combined, we now offer access to 30 reformers, allowing us to serve more members while also expanding into private and small group training.

A few years ago, we recognized something unique about our layout. Each of our studios had its own identity, design and programming, but they were all connected by one long hallway.

Organically, that hallway became known as Studio Row.

What started as a convenient way to describe a location, quickly evolved into something much bigger. Studio Row became a brand within our club — a destination and a community. We leaned into the concept by creating events like our annual Studio Crawl, designed to showcase the full studio fitness experience.

The Studio Crawl has become one of our most anticipated and well-attended events. It features multiple time blocks, each offering seven to eight different tracks. Within each track, members participate in three, 30-minute classes across different modalities. The goal is simple: increase exposure and encourage members to step outside their comfort zones. By lowering the barrier to entry, we’ve seen members try new formats, discover new passions and engage more deeply with the club as a whole.

The success of our newest studios reinforces one of the most important lessons in fitness: listen to your members.

Both our 105 Hot Studio and Sculpt Pilates consistently run at full capacity, and we continue to add classes to meet demand. These spaces were built directly in response to what our members were asking for. In turn, they’ve driven both retention and new member acquisition.

Many new members are now joining specifically for these two offerings, but they also gain access to seven additional boutique experiences as part of their membership.

Today, the NAC offers more than 330 classes per week across nine boutique-style studios — all included in one membership.

In a market where consumers are often paying for multiple boutique subscriptions, Studio Row provides unmatched value: variety, quality, and community. All in one place.

That’s what Studio Row is all about — everything you could want or need, under one roof.
